Action Alert on Police Pursuit Bill

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Crime is skyrocketing, businesses are closing, Washington state citizens are dying, and time is quickly running out.

Moments ago, the House majority party blocked a motion that would have allowed us to vote for the bill to restore vehicular pursuit for law enforcement officers: House Bill 1363.

This Wednesday, March 8, at 5 p.m. is the house of origin cutoff – meaning that any House bill that does not pass the House by this deadline is considered “dead” for the year. We cannot allow this dangerous, anti-police experiment to remain on the books for another year.

I am urging you to contact members of the House Democratic leadership on the House Rules Committee and ask them to allow us to vote on House Bill 1363, so that we can pass it over to the Senate.

Just last week, two children were killed by a drunk driver in Sunnyside because state troopers were not allowed to engage in pursuit. Two young lives, gone forever, because the majority party is prioritizing the interest of criminals over the rest of society.

This issue is too important to wait. We must act now.

Last minute update: Over 3,000 of you have contacted my office about House Bill 1333 that would allow the attorney general’s office to establish a taskforce on extremism. It has just been moved to the second reading calendar and is up for a vote.
