A May update from Rep. Leonard Christian

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Due to election year activity (EYA) restrictions that begin on Monday, this will be my last email update to you until after the November election results are certified.

Over the interim, I will continue working on legislation that prioritizes public safety, reduces unnecessary government regulations on our economy, and protects your constitutional rights.

As always, you can email me with your thoughts, concerns, or ideas at leonard.christian@leg.wa.gov or call my office at (360) 786-7984.

4th District mailer

Rep. Suzanne Schmidt and I recently mailed out our 2024 legislative report for the 4th District.

This year was unique. We were able to achieve major victories by restoring the ability of law enforcement officers to pursue suspects, strengthening parental rights, and passing an anti-income tax measure into state law. All those victories were accomplished thanks to the active participation of people like you – active citizens willing to get involved in their government.

Ribbon Cutting Celebration at Knife River Corporation

I joined other public officials last week for a Knife River ribbon cutting celebration. Knife River is a concrete precast company that makes walls for warehouses and the bridge spans for roads like the north-south freeway.

I am looking forward to seeing their continued investments in the people of Spokane Valley and our local economy.

Barker Road project ceremony

On April 25, I attended an event celebrating the completion of the Barker Road corridor projects.

Growth in the region had led to high levels of traffic congestion in the south Barker Road corridor. These improvements reduce traffic congestion and improve traffic flow with the Barker Road bridge, roundabouts, and sidewalks.

Along with funds from the city of Spokane Valley and Spokane County, the Legislature appropriated $1.5 million to leverage federal funds to complete the projects.

These improvements reduce vehicle wait times, which averaged about two and a half hours, and improve overall safety.

Thank you

I work for you all year round. Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments. I work for you and everyone in the 4th Legislative District.

It is an honor to serve you.

Sincerely,
