In an effort to protect local control of election security, Rep. Leonard Christian, R-Spokane Valley, proposed a series of amendments to Senate Bill 5843.

The bill would require every county to install and maintain an intrusion detection system to monitor their network and to disclose certain malicious activity or breaches of security of information technology systems.

Senate Bill 5843 passed the House 58-37.
